How Tree Roots Destroy Sewer Lines and How to Stop Them

    The Underground Invasion

Trees seek out moisture and nutrients, and your sewer line is full of both. Even the tiniest hairline crack in a pipe releases vapor that attracts roots from dozens of feet away.

    How Roots Cause Damage

Once a tiny root hair enters a joint or crack, it grows rapidly inside the pipe. As the root expands, it acts like a wedge, shattering clay or cast-iron pipes and creating a massive net that catches all solid waste, causing severe backups.

    Removal and Repair

We use heavy-duty mechanical augers with cutting blades to chop up the roots, followed by high-pressure hydro jetting to blast the remaining fibers away. However, this is only a temporary fix.

    Permanent Solutions

To stop roots from coming back, the compromised section of the pipe must be repaired. We often use trenchless pipelining technology to create a seamless, root-proof epoxy pipe inside the old damaged one, without digging up your yard.
